LAFAYETTE — A private high school teacher who last year was arrested and charged with molesting children he babysat had been employed despite falsely claiming that he had a doctorate degree.

Brandon Genest, 29, worked as a ninth- through 12th-grade science teacher at the Bentley School in Lafayette last year, when he was charged with molesting young children who he babysat as a side job. At the time, his biography on Bentley’s website described Genest as having a doctorate in chemistry and biochemistry from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia
