Child sexual abusers, often referred to as child molesters or pedophiles, are not your typical stereotypes of the dirty old man lurking in the shadows.
They are often known and trusted by the child, and can be anyone, from parents, grandparents, to family friends, neighbors, acquaintances, or strangers. Sexual abusers can also be someone trusted to care for our children, such as teachers, church workers, child care providers, or foster parents. Abusers can be any age, adults, adolescents or children, either male or female.
We all need nurturing, intimate relationships, and so do sex offenders
who prey upon children.
There is no profile of a child molester!
